NO PLACE TO HIDE CHAPTER NINE

Ella was already in her nightie, crying, when Latie got in. "Ella, why are you crying? Did the questions upset you?"
"No, Ella replied, wiping her tears. They brought back painful memories," she replied, sitting up. "Latie, I don't want to build up my hopes. I used to do that years ago as a child, filled with hopes. I hoped that one day, someone, maybe a relative would walk into the orphanage looking for me. But as the years grew, the hopes fizzled out. I prefer not to start again," she lamented.
"Ella, its just that Tamie and nanny see in you a very uncaning resemblance to his late mother. Could it be a coincidence?"
"I really don't want to build my hopes up again."
"But you'll take them to aunty Ed ... "

"No, I won't" she stated vehemently, settling back unto the bed. "You've got to Ella. It's the least you could do for them and yourself. Its just a chance .."
"I don't want to take a chance, not another failed chance and hope Latie. Don't you understand that?" she screamed.
No I don’t, I believe you’re being unreasonable. You're being selfish ... " Latie hissed.
"Don't you dare accuse me of being selfish! It's not fair; You're not in my shoes.
You've got the warmth, security and shelter             of your parents for years as long as you can remember, but I’ve not. Don’t talk to me about being selfish.
Don't you see I'm afraid, afraid of a failed dream and hope?" "You don't need to be, you don't Ella.
Please, and it's just a chance. Please ... " Latie pleaded in tears. "I love you Ella, like a sister. It would be great to have you as a sister in-law."
"Don't start!" Ella hissed in a broken voice.

Slowly, Latie enveloped her in a hug. Her heart ached for her friend. "Maybe just this once, your dream will not be in vain, your hopes will be restored. Ella please,” She stared into Ella's eyes.
"Honestly Ella, I believe something about to happen, trust your instinct and give it a try" she pleaded and Silently the sunk into Ella ...
***********************************
"Father, the plans are almost concluded Justice said.
Father and son were in the study, both sat facing each other and staring hard each other. Chief Collins stared at his son. The boy behaved abnormally at times like one who's engaged in drugs. But he couldn’t be sure that he's involved.
"I don't think hiring people is the right step. What if they made a blunder? You know I'm highly respected in the society," he said.

"It won't be like that father. I have him right where I want him. Infact, the assassins will do it few weeks to his wedding, which is a month away," Justice assured his father.
Chief wished Tamie was his son instead. It seemed evil begets evil because Justice was so blood thirsty. He'd gotten wind of the way he treated girls and deep down, he knew  his son must be into drugs to be able to act in such a deranged manner.
Well, he'd take his chances. He wanted the empire that sleazy son of his brother was sitting on, and if the worst came to the worst, he wouldn't mind his son out of the way to achieve that.

"That reminds me Justice, I hear your wild ways with the girls. You better be careful,' he grunted. Justice sat up as if he'd been struck, shocked that        his father knew about it.         .
"I'll change dad." Thirty minutes later, took his leave. As he drove through the light Lagos traffic, he focused his mind on his cousin. The bastard had everything working for him. He would be getting married soon to the most beautiful woman, he had ever seen.
He'd wanted the girl the first day she was introduced to him. Anytime he saw her, he got an erection. He parked by the road side and put his hand under his car to bring out a bottle filled with white substance. Relaxing back, he uncorked it and took a sniff.

Breathing deeply, his eyes took on a glazed look. He sniffed some more and closed the bottle and threw it back under the seat. He relaxed back for few minutes. His           eyes closed, then he opened it and    stretched his hand and inserted a tupac cassette and drove off.
His eyes caught some girls standing and waiting for transport. His father's warning rang in his head but right now, he had a mind of his own. He brushed the warnings aside and after some distance, stopped beside a young pretty girl.

"Hey, young girl, care for a lift?"  The girl lowered her head and stared at the him.
"I'm heading to Ikoyi," she replied.
"Get in, I'm going that way. I'll drop you off”, he said.
"Thank you," she replied breathless with relief. She'd been standing there for thirty minutes. He increased the music, making the girl wince in distaste.
"You care for a drink?" he asked. She smiled, "well, yes,' she said.
"Okay, my house is around the corner. Can we go there?" he asked. She hesitated, thinking she was already late and her mother would be worried.
Come on, I won't take much of your time, just a drink hmm" he persuaded.
"Okay," she replied.

He drove into the house and led her to the living room. "Lets go to my bedroom," he said making his way to the room.
"No, I'm okay here," she said settling on one of the settees. He looked at her for a second and walked into his room. He pulled off his clothes and walked to the wardrobe.
He sniffed more drugs. Minutes later, he walked to the living room in his boxers.
"What would you like " he asked, ignoring her look of surprise.
'A coke," she said, staring at the erection he had. She looked like Latie, he thought. He would pretend she was Latie, and fuck the living day lights out of her.

"Bitch!" he muttered under his breath, abandoning the coke he'd wanted to get and walking up to her.
Come on lets go into the bedroom?” "No I'm okay here," she replied.
"Come on dear, what's your name? Mine is Justice. You look so much like my cousin's fiancée"
"I'm Tinu," she said. "Really?" he pulled her hand, to pull her up but she resisted. He was getting worked up. Suddenly, he pulled her hard and she screamed. He'd almost broken her arm.
"You're hurting me" she screamed. "Sorry Latie, I won't hurt you. You belong to me not Tamie," he said.
She stared with dismay at him. He thought she was someone else. God! What had she gotten herself into? She asked herself.

"I want to go Justice, please could you let me go?" she pleaded. He looked like one into drugs and she was scared. He dragged her and she fought back.
He hit her and dragged her into the room. She cried and slapped him. Angry, he hit her head and she fell across the bed.

He ripped off her top, leaving her jeans. Holding both hands in his, he pinned her legs with his and tried to undo her zip. She struggled hard and one hand came off. She bit him hard and he screamed and hit her again, and again. He managed to pull off her jeans and tore off her panties.
In one sweep', her straddled her and rode her like a horse, forcefully hard, grunting on top of her. He rode her continually while she struggled. Suddenly, she broke free and looking around she grabbed the nearest object, a bed lamp and struck him on the head with it. The glass broke and Justice grunted in pain. He staggered up off the bed, holding his head.

She scrambled up, crying, and looking for an escape route. He came at her, grabbed her neck with both hands, all rational seemed to have fled. As he grabbed her neck, in that instant, all he could see was Latie and his thought was that if he couldn't have her then, not even Tamie would have her.
He lifted her up in a daze and flung her with all his might across the wall. She screamed as she hit the wall. The crack of bone could be heard, then she crumbled on the ground, struggled and twitched a little and was still. Justice hissed loudly. Tired, he slumped on the bed and fell into deep sleep.
