PLEASE COME DOWN FROM YOUR DAD'S JEEP
I dated six ladies before I met my Wife. I learnt something from each of these ladies. But I will major on the one that needs to come down from her dad's car.
I met her in her dad's office one of the days I visited. Her dad is highly placed and a very hard-working gentle man, very hospitable and supportive.
I was seated with him when this elegant pretty young charming daughter of his walked in and as a young man single and searching many things ran through my heart. Honestly, I started seeing vision with my eyes wide open. Unfortunately, this lady is still sitting comfortably in her dad's jeep. I would not like to bore you with how hard I tried to pull her out of the Jeep to no avail. But I remembered the event that inspired this title, it was on her birthday, I had shopped to the best of my ability, and honestly, I went out of my way, knowing her background. I called to let her know I would be coming to the house to deliver the gift only for her to turn me down and rather choose to come and pick it up herself.
I waited for her in a particular place and later she arrived in her dad's jeep. I approached thinking she would at least come down to meet me rather she told the driver to wind down to enable her to receive the gifts and they zoomed off. While they were driving off, something in me told me that this lady needed to come down from this jeep to ride her own. My later observation reveals that many silver spoon ladies are facing similar challenges.
Even at thirty many sisters are still struggling in the front seats of their dad's car with their mum and siblings. Unknowingly, many parents are encouraging this ugly trend, we set high targets for our daughters in marriage. He must be from this background or that background. Who is his father? How can I stoop so low to have an ignoble son-in-law? This is an error. This trend must stop. No wonder many of these daughters are still with us all because we want a rich son-in-law.
That is why am writing this article. Sister, please stop living in the fool's paradise of your dad's jeep. That jeep is not yours but your mum's. I wish she would sincerely tell you how wretched but hopeful your dad was when she accepted him. Your dad was not that rich when he came to marry your mum. He was not even a proud owner of a bicycle but your mum agreed to follow him. The fruits and the results of her faith is evident now, the jeep you are enjoying today inclusive. For many years, she drove the jeep in her dreams and imaginations.
Come down from it, so that your children can equally ride yours. At least you will have an experience to share with the next generation. Don't let anyone mortgage your future by making you feel you need a Jeep husband to build a happy home. After all, all that glitters is not gold. But if God chooses to give you a jeep husband for a start, don't let it enter your head rather see it as something that came by grace and not as your motivation.
HOW TO KNOW YOU ARE STILL SITTING COMFORTABLY IN YOUR DAD'S CAR:
When all the young men that come your way are measured by the size of your dad's briefcase, the size of his jeep, television, sofa, bed, wristwatch, iPad, positions etc. Even some married ladies still have to accept that their dad's properties are not a standard to measure their husbands hence; putting young husbands under pressure. Remember, Rome was not built in a day.
That young man is your husband, not your dad's age, classmate, or rival. Stop measuring him with the size of your dad's position today rather support his vision after all, many of them have started life far better than your dad did. Note this, happiness is temporary because it comes from happenings but true joy comes from knowing that what is ahead is greater than what has been seen.
Am not angry that this lady turns me down because however you look at it, am happily married to one of the finest women on earth. My concern is that many ladies are living in a fool's paradise of their father's mansion and luxurious cars without knowing it, thinking that they are having fun.
