THE STUBBORN CHILD AND THE GODDESS - CHAPTER ONE


Once upon a time, there was a businessman in Akpamse village who traveled all over the neighboring villages doing his business. He loved his family so much that he can do anything for them, but he was not always at home to caution his children.

He left his house everyday by 6:30 in the morning to his business after eating his favorite meal porridge yam. And he comes back by 5:30 in the evening. His name was Mr. Akpengsa who has three children; two females and one boy namely: Simi, Akeem, Sandra and respectively his wife Eniola.

Mr. Akpengsa was a discipline and well respected man in the whole village. He always tried his best to guide his family with all his efforts, setting golden rules to guide them even when he is away from home. And one of the most important rules he loves so much is that his children should never associate with others without the consent of the parents.

He told them the reason why they must always obey this rule: that if they obey this rule, there will have peace in the house, community, especially with him, the father. Since he is not always at home, he wouldn’t like coming back to hear any report about them.

That he won’t be happy with any of them who breaks any of his rules. He urges them to obey their mother, that anyone who disrespects the mother disrespects him and God. And that such a child is a disgrace to the family. Mr. Akpengsa loved his family. But he loved his only son Akeem than other of his children.

He doesn’t allow him to do much work at home especially when he is around. Akeem enjoy his father when he is around. But when the father is gone, he is in a big mess because his mother will not spare him or keep him lazy. She always engages him to assist his sisters doing the house chores.

Anytime Mr. Akpengsa returns from his business; He will buy special goodies for all his children, but the gifts he always give to Akeem will be more specific than others which will cause their siblings sometimes to jealous. 

His wife, Mrs. Eniola who always rebuke him never to treat his daughters as less important. That he should treat everyone equal. She asked her husband Mr. Apkengsa if Akeem was the youngest.
He said No! Then his wife now asked him, why are you now treating Akeem as the youngest and making him so special above his siblings. That he is spoiling him. She was upset. 

Mr. Akpengsa being a smart father sensed the truth on what his wife always said to him. But sometimes when he remembered that he has only one son, he would want to surprise him with lovely goodies.

After Mr. Akpengsa had finished eating his dinner with his family, he went with his wife to the bedroom. He noticed that his wife was upset. Immediately when he got to the bed, he apologies to his wife demanding her to forgive him for his actions. 

His wife said to him that there is nothing to forgive, that she doesn’t want to see such things happening around her family. She ask her husband never to show discrimination. That he should treat and see all his children as important. Mr. Akpengsa promised his wife never will he do such again. And she smiled and thanked him for his understanding.

So in the morning, Mr. Akpengsa prepared to leave the house for his business after taking his breakfast and left the house by 6:30 in the morning.
