A Memorable Christmas

Sitting there and sparkling even in the winter sat a glittering red sports car.

I screamed excitedly and jumped on Uncle Pete.

"Thank you, thank you so much" I squealed

"Here, you can have the key. It’s officially yours" he said giving me a big goofy smile

"I so much love you guys, I'm glad I have a family like yours" I said with so much emotion

"Come here kiddo" Dad opened his arms

I ran into it and was soon enveloped in a family group hug.

The rest of the day went by fast and fun with kids running around, dads playing games and mum's sitting around in the kitchen cooking and chatting

IN THE EVENING

We bundled up except Gisela who wore a very short sleeveless gown even though the weather forecast says it'll be snowy this night and went out around seven to meet Lucas who was revving up his car engine.

After eating in a restaurant a little far from home and chit chatting, we got back to the car.

I sat in the front with Lucas but avoided looking or talk him.

Suddenly it started snowing so hard as we journeyed back home.

After some minutes, the car couldn't move in the snow again so we had to stop

"I'm starting to feel cold" Gisela said through chattering teeth

Even I was feeling cold and could already feel myself shivering even with the clothes I wore

Arden put removed his jacket and draped it over Gisela and it seemed to help a little. Serves her right since I warned her about the dress

"We can't stay in the car forever, let's get out and look a house to keep us warm" Camille said

"Where exactly are we?" I asked

" I think in front of the cemetery" Lucas answered looking out the window

"There's always a little house in a cemetery right?" Gisela asked

"Yeah it's here too" Arden answered

"Then let's get out, we might even find a fire place"

"Yeah, I second that" Camille said

"I third that" Arden shrugged

"I fourth that" I said opening the door and ran into the cemetery

The Snow is falling even harder than I thought. I stopped and looked back at the entrance of the house and saw others hot at my heels

I opened the door, the hinges made a sound that resounded through the house.

I entered the house feeling the walls for a switch but didn't find any

"Which is worst, the cold car or this cold house?" Gisela lamented

"The house is better but why is it dark here" Camille whimpered "I have a phobia for darkness"

"Can't we go back to the car?" I asked and look out through the open door

"It’ll be harder to pass through the snow, it's better we close the door to conserve heat" Lucas said coming to my side

I nod and closed the door, shutting off the little light that came through "I don't think can survive this night" Cam cried

"Anyone with a phone?" I asked calmly trying to stop my racing heart

"No, we left it in the car" Arden answered

Cam started weeping; James pulled her to his side and made her sit on the floor with him cuddling her. Arden did the same to Gisela while Lucas and I sat side by side not touching.

After what felt like hours, Lucas broke the silence.

"Is everyone still awake?"

"I am" I replied quietly others kept silent and it's hard to know if they're really asleep or just pretending.

Lucas pulled me to his side and made me rest my head on his shoulder; the heat coming from his body instantly calmed me. His shoulders were tensed, he probably thought I'll pull off but not this time, I won't.

Instead, I snuggled closer instead so my head is resting on his chest. I forced to remember how his body become my second home. I could hear his heart beating really fast and that surely means something isn't it?

"I missed you" I said so quietly he couldn't possibly hear but he heard

He put his arms around me and sniffed in my hair "I missed you too"

"Ever wondered what really happened that day" he asked and I shook my head against his chest

He sighed loudly "that very day," he started "Maddie, you know her right? the school crazy girl and vice principal daughter? " he asked but continued without waiting for my reply

"My mum had one of her heart seizures again and Dave sent Maddie to tell me to come meet them at the hospital. I panicked and made to run when Maddie voice made me stop, you know what she said?" he laughed dryly

"She said if I took one more step, she would call the doctor in charge of my mum to stop the treatment, that my mum's life doesn't matter to her anyway and the only way she can release me is for me to dance with her for two minutes in front of everyone since I was head over heels with you and didn't give her a chance"

A tear slipped out of my eye as I remembered the day I saw him dancing with the crazy bitch and I didn't even wait to listen to his explanation

"So I gave in since my mum's life was at stake, and when I saw you looking at me with hurt and disappointment I regretted my actions that's what I tried explaining to you but you wouldn't give me a listening ear"

"What about the junior I heard you were dating?" I asked

"I wasn't dating anyone, I had my eyes on you and only you, I loved you and still love you so I wouldn't do anything to hurt you. It was all......." he was saying but I interrupted him by putting my lips on his and very soon we were interlocked in a very intense kiss, each of us fighting for dominance over the other.

"I'm sorry" I whispered looking deep into his blue eyes

"And??" he asked wriggling his brows

"For judging you quickly"

"So??" he started

"Yes!" I interrupted "Yes, to whatever your question might be. I love you"

"I love you too" he smiled happily

"Ahem......" James cleared his throat "That was a life changing story and now that you are back together, can we find a way out of here?"

"Agreed" Others chorused

"I thought you guys were sleeping" I grumbled

"No, we just figured out you both needed sometime alone" Gisela said

"Thanks" I muttered

"You’re most welcome" James smirked.
