CHAPTER ONE
Once upon a time, there lived a king in a far away land. His land was small, so the population of this kingdom.
The king always wished that he had an empire, but he knew how impossible it was because he had only an army of five hundred men and the neighbouring kingdoms and other empires were more powerful than them. His people were always scared that the neighbouring kingdoms would attack.
So one day, the king in his desperation made the most foolish statement of his life. He called all his chiefs, and he said “Let us make our kingdom an empire!” when he saw that his chiefs were dumbfounded, he quickly said “I mean, let us imagine our kingdom as an empire”.
One of the chiefs said “Your majesty, may you live long! I think is it a good plan; so I support you”, but immediately two other chiefs shouted “No my lord”!
The king was dumbfounded, “my lord” said one of the chiefs, we have just an army of five hundred soldiers, plus our lands and our people are very few in number; how then can we imagine our kingdom becoming an empire when we don’t have what it takes to being one my lord? Please my lord, I plead you have a rethink”.
Another chief said “we can’t be imagining this, my lord. We can’t even attack Zulian army their first battalion foot soldiers not to talk of the second, the royal empress and emperor’s guards or the deadly imperial guards. The king then sent them away and thought about it.
Few days later, the king summoned all his chiefs to the royal palace and he made a decree that henceforth they should imagine that the kingdom is an empire. The people foolishly agreed, but two chiefs who weren’t in support took a flight for they know that danger will come upon the land.
The kingdom started growing in the eyes of the king, so other kingdoms and empire scorned him and his people. Any time he was angry, he would shout aloud as a mad, wicked, cruel and powerful emperor; but in the opposite he his always afraid of battles especially from the royal emperor.
The people were afraid because the soldiers didn’t want to risk their lives on unnecessary battles that doesn’t worth dying for. The army decreased earnestly, about 200 soldiers left in the night with their families migrating as common civilians to other cities and kingdoms.
Early in the morning, the chief commander of the army reported to the assumed emperor about the number of armies that fled for their lives and that of their families. The king asked the commander how many soldiers that left? The commander answered “70 foot soldiers, 30 archers, 80 swordsmen and 20 spearmen.
With sure a great number of soldiers that left the kingdom; the emperor didn’t care, but all he could care about was his so call power which he claimed to have.
